Bruised paper

Sonia Nkera, December 1, 2021

You don’t speak much

I can’t tell you why

I don’t remember how

Seats by the window are my favorite

They’re an invisible spot

No one tries to speak to you when you looking out the window

I collect all the words

Don’t let them reach my mouth

I stuff them in my head

Cram them all in till my mind is heavy

I hold my pen tight from the weight of them

Paper is so bruised because I have a lot to say
